Diary of a Disciple review by Becky Lawrence
Diary of a Disciple – Luke’s Story by Scripture Union by Becky Lawrence, St Marks MK
For the whole of last year we used these Diary of a Disciple Luke’s Story books in our Kids Church. It follows the gospel of Luke paraphrased as he retells the Jesus story. We’d read a few pages together in Kids Church and I’d come up with an activity and game linked in with the pages we read (you can find links to pdf’s with 4 of my session plans below). What I love about the book is the fun style and layout which is easy to read for kids especially those that read Tom Gates books as the layout is really similar. When we finished using them I gifted one to each of our kids so they could take them home and read the book all over again! SU has also created £1 short edition of the book, and Activity books which make great gifts and prizes for kids groups. There is also other content in the series too including Audiobook version, Animated short YouTube videos, teaching resources and after school club content and workshop resources too. There is also another book too telling the Acts story from Peter and Pauls perspective!
