Queens Jubilee Resources for Kids by Hope Together & partners review by Becky Lawrence

Queens Jubilee Resources for Kids by Hope Together & partners review by Becky Lawrence, youth and kids worker at St Mark’s Mk.

We recently reviewed the resources for youth by Hope Together for the Queens Platinum Jubilee and since then they’ve unveiled some of their kids resources too, so its only fair we review and let you know about those!

As we mentioned in the youth, schools and uniformed organisations resources review post, the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee gives us a unique opportunity to theme events and curriculumn around the Queen and her faith to help children consider and explore their own faith.

Hope Together have a whole website of Queens Jubilee ideas, including loads of ideas to connect with your community – from street parties to themed activities and resources for kids and youth activities, events and schools work.

The Platinum Jubilee resources for children and under 5s include a Happylands animation (coming soon), a song, a giveaway book ‘The Girl Who Grew Up To Be Queen’ and ideas from Bible Buds (coming soon) to use in toddler groups to help children and their families celebrate the Queen’s 70 years of faith and service.  Hope Together’s partners at Thy Kingdom Come are also creating resources for children and families to use at the Platinum Jubilee.

You can download the short song (1 min 17 seconds) ‘Happy Royal Jubilee’ which is to the tune of Happy Birthday and it’s lyrics from the Hope Together special jubilee website.

A Happylands Platinum Jubilee animation and book, published in partnership with The Entertainer and Hope for Every Home, is being made so the under fives in your community can be introduced to the Queen and her Christian faith.

Help children to explore the question, ‘What do you want to be when you grow up?’ This Platinum Jubilee book uses the Happyland characters to talk about the Queen’s faith, with free downloadable resources at www.theplatinumjubilee.com/learn/children/ so that adults and children can read, watch, play and sing the story together. You could use the book as a way to explore the Queens Jubilee in a kids group, toddler session or as a free gift to give to families with small children.

The book can be purchased for just £2 here

As the 4-day special Bank Holiday weekend for the Jubilee ends at Pentecost, Thy Kingdom Come are also providing a Cheeky Pandas film, song and book for primary school children – with resource packs for home/church/school and community events.

Keep checking back to the www.theplatinumjubilee.com/learn/children/  web page as any new bits currently in production will be there soon!  We hope at least something here might help spark your inspiration to engage small kids and their families with the Queens jubilee, her faith and consider their own faith.
