Book of Wonders for 8-11 year olds from SU review by Becky Lawrence

Book of Wonders for 8-11 year olds from SU review by Becky Lawrence, Youth and Childrens worker at St Mark’s Church & Founder of Youthwork+

This beautifully colourful hardback book by Scripture Union ‘Book of Wonders’ is a great resource for kids aged 8-11 years old.  Instead of assuming faith and science are separate, this book combines them both to satisfy the curious minds of children.  The book creatively uses wonderful and amazing science facts to draw children to wonder and ponder the creator God.

Featuring pages of colourful brilliant drawings and amazing facts about the world and universe and the God who made it all.  You could use this book as a gift, a prize or even a book to look at and read together in a 1-2-1 or a group, you can also use the accompanying resource activity book too to further engage children or childrens groups.

The activity book that goes with the hardback book enables children to explore themselves, the world around them, the planet we live on and the whole wide universe! The Book of Wonders Activity book is an A4 book full of over 30 puzzles, experiments, information, activities, colouring and much, much more to help children find out about the world around them and the God who made everything.

Here’s what Scripture Union say about it:

“Whether you’re amazed by atoms, flabbergasted by fungi or captivated by comets, you’ll find something to blow your mind in the Book of Wonders. Book of Wonders is crammed full of facts, figures and fantastic pictures of the world around you from the greatest galaxies to the tiniest microbes.

Book of Wonders is a captivating, beautifully illustrated book that helps children to explore science and faith. Children will be amazed by the intricately detailed illustrations as they learn about themselves, the world, the universe and more importantly, the God behind it all. The Book of Wonders has been produced in collaboration with The Faraday Institute for Science and Religion. The Faraday Institute is an interdisciplinary research and communication enterprise linked to the University of Cambridge.”

“An excellent mix of science and the Christian faith, showing how they work together and is not something where you have to believe in one or the other.” Austin, 10
