Diary of a Disciple Luke’s Story Resource by Bex Jignasu

Diary of a Disciple Luke’s Story After School Club by Bex Jignasu, Kids work volunteer, Loughton Baptist Church

Scripture Union has a Diary of A Disciple: Luke’s Gospel After School Club resource to go with their kids book of the same name. If you’ve not seen it, the book and resources are in a unique style that kids love, with little doodles and drawings and it retells Luke’s gospel in a fun engaging way for kids. (We’ve also featured a review of the book in our Recommended Resource Library).

The after school club resource is aimed at 8 to 11 year olds.  With the aid of the audio book clips and a couple of video clips as well, we used this as a great resource for our Zoom Sunday church sessions with our primary age group children.

This free download was great, the PDF gives you lots of ideas to run the session, suggestions to ask questions about stories within Luke’s gospel. The resource also provides prayer and reflection activities that we adapted for use in our online sessions too.

I found this an easy pick up to add into our resource bank for the online Zoom sessions we needed over the past year during the pandemic for our church.  It was well recieved by the kids too and they seemed to really enjoy the engaging content.

The resource is written with children from non church backgrounds in mind for use in an outreach after school club style setting, I found it really suitable for children at all stages of faith including those who have been part of church for a

while.

You can find the Diary of a Disciple After School Club resource I used with my Church Sunday kids group here (and best of all it is free!):
