Equipping Every Kid Curriculum for Kids Church/Sunday School review by Becky Lawrence

Equipping Every Kid Curriculum for Kids Church/Sunday School review by Becky Lawrence, Youth and Kids Worker at St Mark’s MK.

As someone who leads our kids church I know that finding good quality kids teaching material or curriculum for your kids church, childrens group or sunday school can be tough.  I’m also very aware of my privileged position of getting paid for it and having slightly more time as a result to find or write resources.   I know volunteers don’t always have as much time to do this especially when also balancing their own jobs, families or other commitments.   Equipping Every Kid could be the next great resource to make planning your kids church or sunday school much easier.

Equipping Every Kid is a children’s ministry curriculum that has grown out of East End Church, an inner city church in the heart of London’s east end.   It’s written by a childrens worker so you can be assured it is quality stuff.  Charlie Macdonald decided that after years of sifting, adapting and re-writing childrens church materials she would write her own.  Since 2016 other London churches have been using and loving Equipping Every Kid – now  everyone can have the opportunity to try it – as its available on their website.  There are various options to suit big and small budgets.  There are free samples which even include multi session resources and there are curriculums for sale in their online shop. The paid ones are £50 for a 10 week series, which works out at £5 per session.  As part of the offering of freebies, there are currently lots of lockdown and covid bubbles kids teaching material which could be easily adapted for use in different contexts.

Using material like this makes life so much easier as all the person leading needs to do is familiarise themself with the session and spend a small amount of time preparing for it.   All the activities, games and teaching is planned and so all you need to do is print off the session, pick up the resource and lead from the notes.

Here’s what Equipping Every Kid say about the resources on offer:

“We love connecting exciting themes to bible people, books and topics.
