Hands on Bible 365 devotions for kids review by Becky Lawrence

Having tools to recommend for family discipleship at home are key to building lasting faith in children and families.   This resource is designed to do just that; encourage kids to read the Bible, provide fun and exciting ways of learning about God and its full of activities, these 365 devotionals are hands-on and engaging.   There is one devotional page per day to last a whole year – hence 365!   This is another resource in the same series as The Hands On Bible for Kids, which we’ve recommended and reviewed also, which is aimed at 8-11 year olds,  I assume the devotions book is also aimed at the same age group, but could be adapated for younger children if needed.

You can recommend this book for use at home as a family discipleship tool, or you could adapt them to use them as content for part of your Kids Church, Sunday School or childrens club.  This would work especially well if you only have a few children in your group, or limited time to prep and plan – you could read the book while they are gathered round and do the activities on the page together.

Heres what the official publicity has to say about this resource:
“Devotional time is usually another way of describing a “quiet time”—a moment to sit and reflect on Scripture and connect with God.
Hands-On Bible: 365 Devotions for Kids will reignite and energize your family devotions. Your kids will be giggling, singing, dancing, creating, and getting excited about the Bible all while praising God and growing closer to Him. Each of the 365 action-filled devotions comes to life with fun activities and games using regular household items.  No need to run out and buy extra supplies! With Hands-On Bible: 365 Devotions for Kids, your children will get into the Bible, and the Bible will get into their hearts, giving them a priceless foundation of faith in God.

Each day’s devotion includes the following features:

  • Theme Bible verse
  • Reflection
  • Do – an application on the theme eg. At the bottom of this page or on a separate piece of paper, draw a simple picture of how you show love to someone in your family. Now draw a picture of how you show faith in God.
  • Pray – eg. Dear God, thank you for giving me hope – hope in you and in the life you have planned for me. Please remind me of that hope, even during times when I don’t feel hopeful. Amen.
