Jesus is the Light? is a delightfully designed minibook made by Christian charity Scripture Union. Aimed at 5 to 11 year olds, it is ideal for giving away in goody bags at a Light Party event, at Kids Church or just as a gift for children in your group around Halloween.
This book does the hard work for you in helping children understand Jesus as the Light, which is a great alternative positive message in contrast to the ghosts, monsters, darkness and scares that usually are celebrated at Halloween. A Light Party is an alternative celebration held by christians and churches around Halloween that celebrates light and Jesus instead of tricks, witches and ghouls.
The mini book is a poetic exploration of Jesus’ identity as the Light of the World, drawing on passages from the Gospel of John. It is written in simple, accessible language to engage children who may not be from a church background and is brought to life with beautiful illustrations.
The books feature brightly coloured pages and also contain some black and white colouring pages which can be helpful for children to colour in as they reflect on words of the poem. These little books are ideal for sharing the good news of Jesus with children in your community, and would make a great addition to a Light Party held in October.
