My First Hands on Bible for age 3-6 review by Becky Lawrence
My First Hands on Bible for Pre Schoolers review by Becky Lawrence
Some of you kids workers do Early Years work which includes pre schoolers and littlies, and a lot of kids and youth workers have their own small children too – so I wanted to highlight a tried and tested resource just for them.
We’ve previously reviewed the Hands on Kids Bible – which we love and recommend – this one is aimed at pre schoolers and those who are in the early years of school – age 3-6. Instead of containing the whole Bible this is more a collection of Bible stories broken down into manageable chunks for small ones to understand.
What we love about it is the Bible stories are not warped – but many contain NLT Bible verses still so the overall message is not lost. It is also highly interactive giving tips of houshold items, activities to do and questions to ask all of which you can use to bring the stories to life and engage small children in the Bible. It also features short prayers you can read out and repeat and cute pictures too.
We’ve used these Bibles at church as a gift when children turn 3 so that they can explore the Bible at home as a family. You could also use them in kids or family ministry in a family activity setting for everyone to read along as you tell a Bible story, or use the Bible story and/or activities in a kids church group for small ones. There are probably other uses too that I havent thought of – get creative!
“My First Hands-On Bible is the preschooler version of the popular Hands-On Bible, which has sold over a half million copies. Jesus taught with hands-on lessons and illustrations; My First Hands-On Bible uses the same experience-based learning to communicate God’s Word in an active, understandable way. My First Hands-On Bible is a fun and simple yet meaningful way to engage preschool, pre-K, and K children (ages 3-6) with the Bible while helping them build a solid faith foundation. Each lesson focuses on a specific Bible point through a variety of activities in order to reinforce and help young children remember the stories and lessons. Using common household items, you can help your children have a “hands-on” learning experience while engaging them in 85 key stories from the Bible. My First Hands-On Bible doesn’t just retell the Bible stories; it also includes actual Scripture from the easy-to-understand and easy-to-read Holy Bible, New Living Translation. In addition to the stories and activities, there are fun illustrations, prayers, and a special Jesus Connection feature.”
