Nua Film Series for Youth (SU Ireland) review by Marco Loxley

Nua Film series reviewed by Marco Loxley, Director of Pulse Youth Ministry

We have been using the Nua resource across various settings for the past 2 years. The material is appropriate for all secondary school ages and provides a great opportunity to explore questions about the Christian faith.
The resource includes a series of 8 well made videos exploring different questions about faith in Jesus. Each forms the basis of a session which is mapped out in the course leaders booklet and is accompanied by individual journals which can be handed out to all those who attend.

Nua means ‘new’ in Irish and the series encourages questions and fresh thinking and perspective on the Christian faith.  Scripture Union Ireland have put a large amount of thought into the creation of the journals, which are ideal for each young person involved. These include well annotated examples and spaces to write down answers, thoughts and feelings.

The films feature interactive content, locations worldwide and animation which all help to keep young people engaged. The course leaders book includes a well laid out plan for each session with different options that can be used with different group dynamics. These plans include icebreakers, games, session content, discussion questions and other creative opportunities to gain feedback or promote further thinking from the young people taking part.
One of the particular highlights for us using this resource was the adaptability and the opportunities to explore faith in a much deeper way with our groups of older young people.
We highly recommend using this resource and encourage you to give it a go with groups of young people in different stages of their faith journey.
