Queens Jubilee resources by Hope Together & partners review by Becky Lawrence
This year marks the Queen’s 70 years in service to the UK & commonwealth, we get a 4 day bank holiday weekend in early June to celebrate her life of service and her Platinum Jubliee. This milestone will be celebrated nationally and provides a big opportunity to explore the faith and values of Queen Elizabeth with those who have a faith and those that don’t yet.
Hope Together and their partners in the Church of England, Pais Movement, Youth For Christ, YouthScape, The Message, Prayer Spaces In Schools, Girls’ Brigade and Boys’ Brigade have put together a great range of resources with ideas for action and videos to use.
‘On Her Majesty’s Service’ is the theme of Hope Together’s Platinum Jubilee resources for 11-14s. These include a selection of session plans and resources for use in youth groups, schools work and uniformed organisations. The free resources focus on the Queen and some other members of the royal family plus some other positive role models including Simone Biles, Greta Thunberg, Captain Tom and more.
Resources for Schools work
Help children in your local schools to find out about the Queen, her faith and her 70 years of service. These Platinum Jubilee resources are tailored to support the SMSC curriculum – great to offer to schools in the months before the Platinum Jubilee celebrations. (Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural education – SMSC – is assessed by Ofsted.) The purpose of Platinum Jubilee Schools is help inspire young people to follow the Queen’s example in serving her country, to help them develop strong, positive values and to raise their aspirations.
We believe young people are full of creativity, passion and energy. We want to partner with schools to see young people learn, grow and serve their communities and schools.

The schools resources include a schools pack, and resources for assemblies, lessons and lunch or after school club material on the following themes creativity and innovation, wellbeing, justice, good neighbours, spirituality, protecting the environment and legacy.
Resources for youth groups
Use these great youth group ideas with the theme ‘On Her Majesty’s Service’ to help your young people to celebrate the Queen’s 70 years of faith and service – ready-to-use sessions – ideal for busy youth leaders. The youth resources include around 90 mins of session plan material on the following themes creativity and innovation, wellbeing, justice, good neighbours, spirituality, protecting the environment and legacy. The sessions include videos, activities, prayer, games, Bible study and discussion questions – everything you need to run a well planned session!
Uniformed Organisations (girls brigade, boys brigade etc.)
Hope Together has partnered with Girls’ Brigade and Boys’ Brigade to develop the theme ‘On Her Majesty’s Service’ to provide these great resources to use in regular sessions for young people in uniformed organisations as we celebrate the Queen’s 70 years of faith and service. These are the core activities included in each session – topic introduction, Bible basics, real life application, time to reflect – taking action, and a prayer. If you have more time, then pick and mix additional activities from additional resources in the material to add to these core ones.
There are also resourced coming soon for children and under 5’s too. Hope Together have teamed up with The Entertainer toy shops and Bible Buds to produce Platinum Jubilee ideas to use with under 5s and our partners at Thy Kingdom Come are also developing resources for children. We will follow up with a review post on these once they become available online.
