Finding resources for young people who have left the youth group and are now young adults can be tough as they aren’t young people anymore but sometimes the adult material available is just not engaging enough and not meeting where they are at?!   Perhaps you may be lucky enough to have a bunch of 18-25 year olds at your church, or in your community who you could reach.  For some of us this age group is elusive as most, if not all, young people leave town to go to uni, leaving none of this age group behind.

If you do have one or more 18-25 year old, this weeks recommendation is for Ethos which is a series of films for young adults created by Youth For Christ.   If you have enough 18-25’s for a group, perhaps you could use this video series together as a conversation starter, if you don’t have enough for a group perhaps you could send links to the videos and arrange a coffee with the young person (or couple of young people) after they’ve watched to discuss the content together.  Or perhaps you can think of a more creative use within your context, maybe you work in an Further Education setting or have a CU at a Uni or perhaps could branch out into these as ideas!

I was part of a weekly house group myself when I was 22, along with people of a similar age (in their 20’s and 30’s) and it was really pivotal for my faith, to have a opportunity to journey with others and learn more about God together.   We became a little community together and our friendships, and faith grew.  If we can create opportunities like that for young people who have outgrown the youth group, or other students who we may have in our churches – we can keep them connected to church, help them feel valued and help their faith to stick as they journey into adulthood.

Ethos is a groundbreaking series of films for young adults …. and its free!! Produced by Youth for Christ between 2013-2017, Ethos covers a wide range of relevant topics for young adults.  Although these were recorded a few years ago there isn’t much that dates them and the content is still relevant and engaging.  There are 8 videos in total and as mentioned before are all online for free.  Using the link below you’ll find animations, spoken word pieces, music tracks and bible studies all aimed at helping reach and disciple young adults in your church.  These are also suitable for those anywhere on the journey, for those that call themselves christians and those that don’t, for those that have grown up in the youth group and those that are brand new without any church background.  I think these videos work best when used as a conversation starter rather than a standalone thing, you could watch the video and then come up with some discussion questions to engage conversation and find out what they think.   However you use them, I hope these videos can help grow faith and instigate good conversations.
